men Anderson, B~yer and Braun, City Attorney Stewart, City Administrator Wurl and Treasurer John Hall
present.
Mr. Singer, representing the Aspen Music Associates requested permission to have a welcoming banner
Banner- strung across Main Street, and asked for space for practice. The following motion was made by Anderson,
Practice seconded by Beyer, that it is permissible for the banner to be put up. Carried unanimously. Motion
Space by Anderson seconded by Braun, that i~ is permissible for the Music Associates to use the piano in
MAA Armory Hall for practice. Carried unanimously.
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 6 and the special meetings of June l~ and 16 were read.
Motion was made by Anderson, seconded by Beyer, that the minutes be approved as read. ~Carried Snanimously.
Motion by Braun seconded by Anderson, to accept minutes of the special meetings of June l~ and 16;
approved unanimmusly~
The City's bills payable were read and discussed, also the accounts pa~able of the Water and Electric
Departments. Motion by Beyer seconded by Anderson, to suspend Rule 19 and pay the bills as read - car-
ried unanime~sly.
Tree Comm. Herbert Bayer gave a report on the Tree committee of the Planning Commission,-and outlined~their
Forest Ranger present and leng range plans. He said Forest Ranger Edstrom would be willing to be the inspector for the
Edstrmm - Insp. trees~ but could not receive any Salary. Mr. Bayer said there were ~ trees requiring cutting and 80
trees requiring trimming. Councilman Anderson said that he had arranged for Nichols of Grand Junction
to work on the trees~ as Dawson was no longer available. Motion was made by Anderson, seconded by Beyer~
that Forest Ranger Edstrom be appoknted Tree'Inspector, With no Salary. Carried nnanimuosly. Mr.
Bayer also said 6he ~ree Committee is working up a master plan for the future.
Gravel~around Mrs. Florence Glidden asked if the Thrift ~op might hire and pay Henry Pedersen to make a gravel
Bell Tower walk around the Bell Tower in City Park. Discus~sion followed. Motion~Beyer seconded by Anderson-
it is permissible to have an area of gravel about 8 ft. wide around Bell Tower; approved unanimously.
Mr. C. H. Anderson of the Aspen Electric Department explained to Council the charge of $~0.00
for ~is trip to Denver, and also the l~gal o~inion from Tallmadge ~nd Tallmadge. He read a resolution
C. H. Anderson signe~ by former Mayor Robison outlining his duties as Manager of the Electric Department, and then
report, requested that the present Council furnish him with more specific authority in running the ~lectric
Department. Council suggested that he furnish report ~n what had been done and the plans for the
future. A meeting of Council and Mr. Anderson will be set for further discussion.
John Doremus conferred with Council about the proposedchanges and amendments to the Zoning
Amendments to Ordinance. Notice to the public of the meeting to be held in the County Court House, July 12 at 7:~O
~ Zoning Ord. PM will appear ~n the Aspen Times of June 2~. Doremus will arrange with the Sheriff for the use of the
~ Public District Court Room. Procedure for handling the meeting was discussed. Motion then made by Anderson,
Hearing seconded by Beyer,- authorizing notice on public hearing with respect to~amending Zoning Ordinance
i No. 6, Series 19~6, as proposed and~ studied by the Planning Commission,~ and such meeting to be held
~ at the County Court House at 7:~0 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 1960. All Council voted "aye".
Ken Moore again asked Council for action on vacating a part of Dean Street.~ Discussion followed,
Vacation- covering approval of owners of property inv$1ved and easements for u~ilities~ It was suggested that
Dean Sto Moore have petition signed by all property owners and again present matter. Council will look at area
discussed involved.
Aspen St. Jim Markalunas said David Hasty had asked for an easement through Aspen Street for a 12" pipe for
easement intercommunication wires. Wurl said this had also been brought to his attention and he had told Hasty
D.Hasty to present his request in writing to Council giving all facts. Postpone action until letter is
received.
Discussed - Enforcement of Sidewalk Ordinance, with hardship cases referred to Cbnncil. Policy on
Utility poles. Parking of commercial vehicles,- Beck and Hayes -.

-One Bid received for construction of dog pound-discussed. Motion by Anderson seconded by Beyer,
Dog Pound to rejec~ bid and advertise again, carried unanimuusly.
Street grades - pending
Fire Tower Fire Tower - West End - Jim Markalunas and C. H, Anderson to look into cost and report.
West End Grade problem at new school - their architect will submit proposal to Planning Commission.
Discussed - Street widths.
Water Line County will purchase pipe for rerouting water pipe around Hospital.
Hospital Change in phone system for City Hall - ordered.
Tank locations - Wurl and Council will confer Thursday on this.
Employees Insurance - pending.
Water line extensions going ahead.

Ord. Codification Codification of Ordinances - Charles Johnson agreement. Councilman Beyer to follow up.

Aspen Skating Rink. Answers filed. Discussed -'whether Mr. Stewart should continue to represent City as Aspen Skating
he is a creditor. It was agreed 6hat another attorney should be retained for this suit. Rink
Pascal Construction Company - due to liquidated liability clause in contract it was decided to accept bid Pascal COo
bond. Mr. Stewart will contact Pascal's attorney.
