HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.council.19600723 Aspen, Colorado Informal Meeting Aspen City Council July 23, 1960 T~e City Council met as a Committee of the Whole at 3~00 PM Saturday, July 23~ 1960, for d~scussion in connection with the waterworks installation. Those present were Mayor G~rrish, Councilmen Anderson, Braun Beyer, and Jmes, and City Administrator Wurl. Anderson reported that he~ Beyer and Wurl had looked in the Hunter Cre~k area fgr a well site o~ Bob George's land. He also reported that Stantonwill give permission to build a tank. Attorney Stewart Bob George is to draw up legal proposals. Wurl or Beyer will get permission from Bob George to go ahead on this. Mayor Garrish reported he is still trying to contact Mrs. Bissell. well site After discussion ±t was agreed that a 1/2 million gallon tank would be most feasible. Chlorination was discussed and will be provided if necessary~ ~lse discussed - pumps, sand traps, one and two pump Tank systems,. It was agreed that all pump systems s~e~uld be the same to facilitate repairs. Wurl is to get bids on pump systems and he suggested having "specs" to avoid delay and confusion. Also discussed - pump houses, and it was decided that bids be invited and if too high the ~ity should build them. ~uggested material, cinder block - with necessary thermostats and hole in roof for pulling pump, also adequate drainage. Councilman Anderson suggested that Wurl contact man in Gunnison for more information re pump buildings Size o~ wells and rates for drilling from Sheldon were discussed, and consensus was that it would be advisable to rent equdpment by the hour, also that wells be larger and deeper. Braun will contact Dana Kepner about rest of suppliss when he goes to Denver. Phil Crosby's wate~liue given consideration and it was decided that the City should tap on the h" line Waterline and that he should make the tap-on in front of his property. Aspen, Colorado Informal Meeting Aspen City Council July 23~ 1960 Continued order pipe Waterline for Hospital discussed and it was decided to get 2~0' at Once and order ~lance of 1600' from Thompson Pipe and Steel whose quotation is -l~" steel pipe in 20 ft lengths - $~.36. Smith Scott was $~.~8. Wurl will prepare statement showing balance in the Special Water Fund. It was suggested that the tank bid cover all construction. Soil ~analysis recommended. Meeting adjourned.
