Re. Trueman Subdivision SPA Amendment

The Parks Department is in the planning phase of a trail project located between
the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies and the U. S. Postal Service property down
at the Trueman Subdivision. See Exhibit A. In order to facilitate a compromise with the
U.S. Postal Service, the Parks Department has agreed to abandon a section of City of
Aspen owned trail easement and to relocate the trail on to adjacent City owned property
to the west. See Exhibit B. The relocation of the trail out of the existing public right-of-
way will allow the Postal Service to build additional parking spaces in order to mitigate
the loss of parking spaces caused by the new trail construction.
The existing trail easement is also shared as a utility easement. This existing
utility easement will not be abandoned and will stay as is.
