ORDINANCE NO. ~'-~ (Series of 1985)
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE MEETING ROOM OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER
LOCATED AT 0100 nONE PINE ROAD IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREA OF PIT-
KIN COUNTY AS AN ALTERNATIVE PLACE TO CONDUCT MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the meeting room of the
Community Center located at 0100 Lone Pine Road in the unincorpor-
ated area of Pitkin County is an excellent place for holding pub-
lic meetings due to its size, accessibility to handicapped persons
and abundance of parking, and
WHEREAS, in recognition of its responsibility to make its
meetings accessible to the public the City Council desires to
establish the meeting room of the Community Center as an alterna-
tive place for conducting meetings, notwithstanding its location
outside the boundaries of the City, when the City Council deems
appropriate, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that:
1. The Community Center is less than one mile from and
within easy walking distance of City Hall and, therefore, conduct-
ing meetings at the Community Center would not inconvenience the
citizens of the City merely by reason of the fact that the Commun-
ity Center is located approximately 200 to 500 feet outside the
boundary of the City, and
2. The Community Center may serve as an appropriate alter-
native site to City Hall for conducting meetings of the City Coun-
cil because it is more easily accessible to handicapped persons,
there is more parking space and the meeting room is larger than
the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
