ORDINANCE mO.

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF A SINGLE VOTING PRECINCT AT
THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JULY 31, 1984
WHEREAS, the City Council (the "Council") of the City of
Aspen, Colorado, in the County of Pitkin and State of Colorado, a
municipal corporation duly organized and existing as a home rule
municipal corporation pursuant to Article XX of the Colorado Con-
stitution, has heretofore determined, by Resolution No. I~ ,
adopted
on
municipal election on July 31, 1954, for the purposes set forth in
said resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined, and hereby determines,
that the use of a single voting precinct for said special munici-
pal election will maximize the convenience of the voters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITYOF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1
All action heretofore taken by the Council and officers of
the City, not inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance,
toward the special election herein authorized and toward the use
of a single voting precinct therefor, be, and the same hereby is,
ratified, approved and confirmed.
Section 2
Pursuant to Section 2.3 of the City Charter, the Council has
heretofore adopted Ordinance No. 5-71, establishing multiple
voting precincts. The Council has determined, and hereby deter-
mines, that, solely for the purpose of the special municipal elec-
tion to be held on July 31, 1984, as herein authorized, the City
shall constitute one single voting precinct, the boundary of which
shall ~e the same as the boundary of the City. This ordinance

shall supersede said Ordinance No. 5-71, but only as to the July
31, 1984, special municipal election herein authorized.
Section 3
The officers of the City be, and they hereby are, authorized
and directed to take all action necessary or appropriate to effec-
tuate the provisions of this ordinance.
Section 4
The City Council shall have the continuing power to cancel
all or any part of the special municipal election set for July 31,
1984, by a duly-passed Resolution at a regular or special meeting
of Council.
Section 5
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or
portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such
portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent
provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions thereof.
Section 6
A public hearing on the ordinance shall be held on the ~'--
