Special Meeting Aspen Planning and Zoning August 13, 1974 The meeting was opened by Chairman Spencer Schiffer at 4:13 p.m. with members Jack Jenkins, Chick Collins, Janet Landry and Bryan Johnson present. Also present were Yank Mojo, John Stanford and Donna Baer. CSU presentation Speaker for the group, M.D. (Mike) McAnelly, introduced the other members of the environmental study grad students and explained that they had each taken a separate resource to study. Terence Trimbli reported on the topography and soil, william Lautenbach on wildlife and the visual resources, Tom Shepherd on flood plains and geology, Dennis Pendleton on water and vegetation and McAnelly on wildfire hazard, snow avalanche danger, air pollution and climate. McAnelly explained that their purpose was to identify the natural resources opportunities, constraints and hazards which occur on privately owned land in the county. For easy reference they divided pitkin into four areas: lower Roaring Fork, upper Roaring Fork, Frying Pan and Crystal River Valleys. At the end of the report are their recommendations on how to over- come the conflicts in each of the areas. The visual presentation lasted fifty minutes and then local people and members of the county P & Z asked questions about specific areas. Resolutions and Reports The Resolution in favor of the extension of Ordinance 19 was submitted to the P & Z and Jenkins moved that they adopt the resolution and Landry seconded. All in favor, motion carried. The Resolution for Ordinance 9 was to be put on next week's agenda for formal consideration. The Mountainedge denial letter was presented for approval but was given to the City Attorney for reading before signature. The written report for approval on the ute Village PUD outline development plan which is to go to Council was signed. Motion was made to adjourn by Jenkins and seconded by Collins. All in favor, motion carried.
