Continued Meeting Aspen Planning and Zoning l\ugust 3, 1972 Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by chairman Robin Molny with James Adams, James Breasted, Charles Collins, Anthos Jordan and victor Goodhard. Also present: City/County planner Herb Bartel. Hotel Jerome Rezoning Hearing Goodhard moved to change the date of the hearing on rezoning of Hotel Jerome properties from September 12 to September 14. Seconded by Adams. All in favor, motion carried. Molny abstain S. Monarch St. landscaping request Mr. Stan Johnson was present to hear recommendation commission with regard to his proposal to landscape of South Monarch Street. of the a portion Adams and Collins reported they had inspected the area in question and recommended that the city take no responsibility for that portion of South Monarch south of Gilbert St. since they felt the area constitutes a "private" street. Bartel stated that in any case,and in general, full right- of-ways should be preserved for pedestrian use. Collins suggested that extension of Hill Street connecting Aspen and Monarch Streets would facilitate circulation in the area. Bartel recalled that Council's position was that circulation in the No. 1 Lift area was not the responsibility of the city. Commission discussed the desireability of preserving views and insuring that the proposed landscaping and the development not obscure views up the mountain. Collins moved to recommend to Council that the landscaping request be turned down on the basis that there are too many other problems associated with the request, principally traffic circulation and site corridors. Seconded by Adams. Collins - yes; Adams - yes; Goodhard - yes; Jordan - no; Molny - no; Breasted - no. Motion not carried. Breasted moved to recommend to Council that the landscaping request be approved subject to review of the landscaping plan. Seconded by Jordan. Adams - no; Collins - no; Molny - yes; Breasted - yes; Jordan - yes; Goodhard - no. Motion not carried. Adams moved to adjourn at 7:00 p.m., seconded by Goodhard.
