Vice Chairman James Breasted opened the public hearing.
John Doremus, Pitkin County Park Association Director, was
present to represent the Park Association. Stating their
position thusly: the Park Association voted to proceed with
the public hearing to change the zoning to p-Park. But the
Association feels that the City should clean-up with what has
amounted to, as general abuse of the grounds. There are rocks
left behind from the City puting in a water line, and general
debris. When he called the City Engineer 3 months ago to ask
about the City picking up the rocks, Chuck Gilkey said that
the City was going to put in a water tap free. So far nothing
has been done about this. The Park Association reconizes that
the park needs extensive landscaping, the first landscaping
was not done satisfactorily. Would the City consider, as this
land was a g_ift, keeping up the maintence on it, and puting
in a water tap? Also request the Planning & Zoning to consider
the area at the Slaughter House bridge for a park. Owner
agreeable, but would like to continue to have control.
James Breasted said this would be covered some other time. As
to Freddie Fisher Park, leave this in its natural state, per-
haps a park bench and getting water on the lot, ordinary main-
tence.
John Doremus left.
Vice Chairman James Breasted closed the public hearing as there
were no further comments.
Charles Collins made a Motion to recommend to Council to re-
zone Freddie Fisher Park from R-6 residentual to p-Park. Sec-
onded by Vic Goodhard. All in favor, Motion carried.
James Breasted moved to ammended Motion to include in the
agreement that the City should take over land set-up as has
been presented by the Park Association, with the exception of
the landscaping initially, and secondly free water tap be
provided on property. Seconded by Anthos Jordan. Roll call
vote, Breasted - aye; Jordan - aye; Collins - aye; Goodhard
- aye. All in favor, ammended Motion carried.
Vice Chairman James Breasted opened the public meeting on the
AR-l zone change for Ute Cemetery from AR-l to p-park. Vice
Chairman James Breasted closed the public hearing as there
were no comments.
James Breasted so moved to initiate the City changing the
zoning of Ute Cemetery from AR-l to p-park, containing two
(2) parcels of land of which both were advertised, one being
Hoag Subdivision and the other and smaller portion deeded
to City by Frederic Benedict and Fred Larkin. Recommend
