Transportation Committee Advisory Committee to Planning & Zoning December 30, 1970 Meeting was called to order by Mr. Herb Bartel, Regional Planner at 5:15 p.m. with the following present: K.N.C.B. Moore, George Odier, Charles Lockridge, James Adams, John McBride, Robert Lewis, James Markalunas, Fritz Benedict, W.V.N. Jones, Tom Wells and John Burns. Mr. Bartel submitted to those present a compilation of the questionnaires sent out by his office and also the Businessmen's Association relating to the mini buses. Results show a big gap in communications to the citizens. Discussed wheter a fare should be charged on the mini buses or free. Mr. Bartel informed the committee, the Ski Corporation is willing to make a $10,000.00 donation with conditions, one condition being that the fee if charged not exceed 10 cents. Discussed other sources of revenue and how other capital impnovements such as malls will be financed and revenue for operating costs. Mr. Bartel suggested the committee review the capital improvements program of the City. Poll was taken of the members as follows: Free - unanimous Charge - all opposed A Qae charge directed towards the automobile: In favor - unamious Against - all opposed At some date of having an additional sales tax to finance a whole transportatior system: In favor - unamious Against - all opposed Mr. Bartel submitted two transportation study proposals and related to one draft proposal. Request the committee review the proposals and be prepared to make a recommendation at the next meeting. Letter from the First National Bank supporting the m~n~ bus system and offering financial support was read to the Commission.
