Transportation Committee
January 19, 1971
Present: Fritz Benedict, C. R. Nutzhorn, John McBride, and Whipple
V.N. Jones. Regional Planner Herb Bartel also present.
Transportation Proposals - Mr. Bartel explained he has received the
transportation proposals (3), and submitted copies of same to the
members present. Mr. Bartel stated he would like to have a committee
of three review the proposals for a recommendation to Council.
Ratification of the Transportation Committee by the County Commissioners
was discussed. Mr. Bartel to handle.
Committee agreed to meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each
month at 5:00 p.m. If Council Chambers are unavailable, will meet
in the planner's office.
Mr. Jones request budget figures on the indebtedness of the City be
submitted at the next meeting.
There being no further business

Present: John McBride, Fritz Benedict, James Adams and Regional Planner
Herb Bartel.
Committee to review the transportation proposals was appointed consisting
of John McBride, James A lams and Fritz Benedict. Mr. Bartel explained
he had received two additional proposals, one from Wilbur Smith and
one from Development Research Associates. Mr. Bartel further explained
he felt the first phase of the study should be very general.
Mr. Bartel submitted to those present copies of the capital improvements
program covering a period of 6 years and the projections used in acquir-
ing the golf course property.
Mr. Benedict reported there is for sale all of the necessary materials
for a narrow gauge track. Would be coming from the Durango area and the
contractor who is taking up the track will be in Aspen tomorrow.
Those present agreed to meet for lunch tomorrow to discuss this narrow
gauge track with the contractor.
There being no further business to come before the committee, the
meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
