at the next RSA meeting, April 8, 1971.
Mr. Bartel indicated he would call the members to be sure
they wanted to be included on the list to be submitted to
the RSA.
Further outlined by Mr. Bartel were the procedures that
both Planning Commissions would review the transportation
study outline for comments and recommendations to the
County Commissioners and City Council.
Mr. Bartel submitted James H. Smith's comments relating to
Mr. Smith's discussions with Jerry Fisher in Washington of
UMTA, as follows:
John McBride moved to appoint James H. Smith as the Trans-
portation Committee's representative to work with the De-
partment of Transportation to further investigate funding.
Seconded by Bob Lewis. All in favor, motion carried.
Mr. Bartel submitted to the Committee an outline of traffic
counts, parking and traffic and land use data. Mr. Voorhees
has indicated the Committee needs to get as much parking
information as soon as possible.
Committee discussed the problem of data collection for the
transportation study and determined that the information
should be collected by governmental (City and County)
employees i. e. Planning and Engineering offices, rather
than transportation committee members, to insure that the
information will be completed correctly.
The possibility of private funding for transportation sys-
tem was presented by Steve Murphy and a motion was made by
Curt Baar, seconded by Bob Lewis, to have Mr. Murphy in-
vestigate the possibility of p~ivate funding for transor-
tation system.
John McBride indicated we should include considerations
for bikeways under Study Outline B-3-f and should consider
speed studies to determine the feasibility of posting the
highway at a lower speed.
Lamont Kinkade emphasised the benzene solubles (products of
internatl combustion) were higher for Aspen than for Denver
and the the transportation committee whould concern itself
with the air pollution problem in the transportation study.
There being no further business to come before the committee
the meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
