Aspen Planning & Zoning
September 6, 1967
Meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. with the following members
present:
Chairman Tom Benton - Presiding
Sam Lum
Francis Whitaker
Donald Copelin
George Heneghan
Francis Whitaker made a motion to
taken at the August 23rd meeting.
All in favor, motion carried.

Mayor Barnard arrived.
Secretary, Lorraine Graves, read the following correspondence:
My name is Mike Novak. I moved to Aspen June 1, 1967 from Omaha, Neb-
raska. I have been a car dealer all my life. Cadillac and Chevrolet
I want to get a used car dealers license. One of the requirements is
to have a location. I don't want a big spread. I have that now in
Omaha. I just want something to eccupy my time, probably 10 to 15 cars
at a time. I would like to know what zoning you would require for
this sort of an operation.

Under the City of Aspen Zoning Code Title XI a used car lot (~etail
commercial establishment) is not a permitted use in the C-l District.
This is clearly established under 11-1-7, uses - permitted #2 (retail
commercial establishments limited to the following and similar uses).
A use of this type (new or used car sales) is permitted in the C-2
District.

Mr. Whitaker made a motion the letter from Mr. Novak and opinion from
Tom Benton be put into the mihutes. Seconded by Donald Copelin. All
in favor, motion carried.
Councilman Clymer arrived.
Clint Sampson - request approval to move residents and walk-in cooler
to 4 lots behind Hotel Jerome. Curb cut established.
Donald Copelin made a motion to approve the plans
the marking of curb cut and parking on the plans.
Barnard. All in favor, motion carried.

between Woodlander and Aspen Leaf Building. Serving inside at the Wood-
lander.

Special Meeting, P & Z, Sept. 6, 1967, continued.
Alpine Market and Additional Shops between Spring and Original on Cooper.
Nine lots A through I.
Marvin Reynolds, Building Inspector, reported the plans were drawn for
another site, no change in plans except for elimination of overhang.
Buildigg requires 19 spaces providing 32.
Mayor Barnard made a motion to approve the plans for Alpine Market.
Seconded by Sam Lum. All in favor, motion carried.
Mayor Barnard questioned if anyone on the Commission requested an op~n~on
from Attorney Gaylord as relates to removal of Councilman McEachern from
the Commission. No comment.
Mayor Barnard made a motion to adjourn at 5:30 p.m., seconded by Sam Lum.
All infavor, motion carried and meeting adjourned.
