Regular Meeting Aspen Planning & Zoning November 28, 1967
Meeting was called to order at 5:20 p.m. with the following members present:
Chairman Tom Benton
Mayor Robert Barnard
Sam Lum
Francis Whitaker
Donald Copelin
George Heneghan - Unexcused
Councilman Clymer - Excused
Also present Building Inspector, Marvin Reynolds and City Administrator
Leon Wur 1.
Donald Copelin made a motion to approve the minutes of November 14, 1967
with the following correction "Commission discussed. Highway 82 - Main
Street - 4 lane traffic." Seconded by Francis liIhitaker. All in favor,
motion carried.
BUILDING REVIEW - Building Inspector's office had nothing to submit
UNIFORM BUILDING CODE
Marvin Reynolds request approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission
to adopt the 1967 addition. Also stated by adopting the code our permit
fees would be increased.
Sam Lum made a motion to recommend the City Council adopt the entire
Uniform Building Code for 1967. Seconded by Francis Whitaker. All in
favor, motion carried.
Secretary to write letter to the City Council relating this to the Council.
MAIN STREET
Chairman Benton submitted to the Commission a sketch of Main Street with
a center strip for flowers and trees. Discussed four lane traffic.
Commission agreed to have Chairman Benton draw up a preliminary drawing
of a center strip, 4 lanes of traffic and parallel parking on each side.
Administrator Wurl to present plan to the State.
HIGHWAY 82 - BY-PASS
Chairman Benton presented a plan for a by-pass of Aspenof Highway 82 along the
bottom of the ski mountain to the south of Aspen with covered Highway
allowing skiers to ski over the highway.
Discussed this being made a part of the Master Plan. Chairman Benton to
draw up a plan on this.
SURFACE PARKING - Ruby Park
Administrator Wurl presented to the Commission a plan of Mr. C. M. Clark's
to try surface parking on Ruby Park. Plan was reviewed by the Commission.
Francis Whitaker made a motion to endorse the study of surface parking on
Ruby Park. Seconded by Mayor Barnard. Roll call vote - Benton aye; Barnard
aye; Whitaker aye; Lum aye; C~in a~s1ffn.

SUB-DIVISION - Worth
County Planning and Zoning request approval of the City Planning and
Zoning due to the subdivision being within the 3 mile radius of the City.
Commission reviewed plat as submitted.
Donald Copelin made a motion to approve the sub division plat for Charles
Worth. Seconded by Francis Whitaker. All in favor, motion carried.
Francis Whitaker made a motion to adjourn at 6:00 p.m., seconded by Sam Lum.
All in favor, meeting adjourned.
