Special Meeting Planning & Zoning September 27, 1966 Meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Tom Benton with King Woodward, Building Inspector Henry Thurston and Planner Jerry Brown. Benton stated there was a lack of a quorum. BUILDING REVIEW Robert Ross Building - Block 99, Lots A,B Corner Hunter and Hopkins. Commission reviewed the plans, combination apartments and dormitory. Discussed under the present curb cut ordinance,parking would be unfeasible as shown on the plans. Chairman Whitaker arrived. Tom Benton made a motion to return the drawings, disapproved becasue of the parking situation on North Hopkins. Seconded by King Woodward. All in favor. The Contractor for the building, Mr. Lacy, was present and stated they would be willing to correct this, but time was of the essence, could the Planning and Zoning approve the plans subject to revised plans being approved by the Building Inspector before a permit is issued. Tom Benton made a motion to withdraw his motion. King Woodward with- drew his second. All in favor, motion withdrawn. Tom Benton made a motion to approve the plans subject to compliance with the curb cut and parking ordinance to the satisfaction of the Building Inspector and submission of revised plot plans and other plans that are affected, by the next regular Planning and Zoning meeting. Seconded by King Woodward. All in favor. Janss Corporation - Block 90, Lots C,D - Sales Pavilion. Commission reviewed the plans - to be a temporary structure for 4-1/2 years with an extension of 1/2 year. Will include exhibit or display area and real estate. Tom Benton made a motion to approve the drawings. Seconded by King Woodward. All in favor. Martin A. Ryan - Block 100, Lots D,E - Quonset Hut -Prefab Steel Building. Would be a temporary building for the winter till the 1st of June 1967. King Woodward stated to Mr. Ryan that he was creating an objectionable building. Mr. Ted Gordon, Patricia Moore and Norris Taylor~, surrounding property owners were present and objected to this type of building. King Woodward made a motion the Planning and Zoning does not act on this request for approval from the Building Review. Seconded by Tom Benton. All in favor, motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE A letter to the Planning and Zoning from the Building Inspector was read in regards to preserving old historic buildings in Aspen. Jerry Brown to check out the legality of this. ( Continued, September 27, 1966 TITLE XI Jerry Brown suggested the Planning and Zoning have sufficient copies available in the City Clerk's office of the new Title XI so that the public will be well informed before the public hearing. Commission reviewed sections of the draft of Title XI. Jerry Brown to make the new zoning district map. Mr. Brown stated we should pass the map the same time as the new ordinance. Discussed having to notify all property owners within the City of Aspen and those within 300 feet. Secretary to check with City Admin- istrator and City Engineer as to how this can be done. Draft of Title XI to be submitted to the City Attorney to eheck out and put in ordinance form King Woodward made a motion to hold a public hearing by the Planning and Zoning, October 25th on Title XI and the New Zoning District Map.
