MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
CITY OF ASPEN PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
April 27, 1966
Meeting convened at 8:10 P.M., City Council Chambers, City Hall
Present were: Woodward, Whitaker, Walls, Benton, McEachern
Minutes of April 4th and April 12th meetings were approved.
Motion was made by woodward; seconded by Walls; motion carried.
Letter from City Administrator was read, with copy of proposed
sidewalk specifications and enclosed drawings, dated April 19, 1966.
Discussion follow~d. It was recommended that the following
changes be made in the sidewalk specifications: Business Dist.
8'\)" Sidewalks - 2' x 5' at 15'0" O.C. Max.
11'0" Sidewalks - 4' x 4' at 15'0" O.C. Max. Curb to center
of box 3'0"
25' 0" from corner for planting areas
Tourist OK
Residential Planting Areas OK
Motion was made by Benton to approve, and a letter to be written
with proposed specification changes. Seconded by Walls, motion
carried.
Baar Subdivision Plat was dis~ussed. It was revealed that our
Subdivision Regulations are in error in regard to State Statutes
concerning pDcedure. Notices were not sent to the adjoining
property owners; therefore, a new hearing must be set. Also
brought to the attention of the Planning and Zoning Commission that
contours are not shown.
Walls moved that this be expedited and a new hearing date be set
for next Tuesday, May 3, 1966 at 8:00 P.M. in City Council Chambers,
City Hall. Seconded by Woodwaml, Motion carried.
Note to be made ;that Section 2 in Subdivision Regulations must be
revised to meet State Statutes.
Beruman Annexation:
Discussion followed regarding the proplems of roads on either
siile of Beruman Subdivision, which are in the County. Whitaker felt
that the Planning and Zoning Commission should not be in to big a
hurry in annexation of this subdivision until access into this
property is resolved.
Woodward moved that a request be made to the City Council that a
street plan be wmrked out for this general area by the City
Engineer before action is taken on annexation. Seconded by Benton
Motion carried. Also to be included in letter to Council tlRt
streets are inadequate and in some cases not even dedicated rights-
of-way.

Density Control was discussed:
Proposed letter to the City Council was read by Mr. Whitaker.
Suggestion was made that the Plannin g and Zoning Commission
write tothe Colorado Municipal Leage for sample ordinances from
small towns and resorts on density control.
Proposed letter by Whitaker to be sent to the Council and read
at the Public Hearing. Motion was made by Woodward to send
letter to Council. Seconded by Walls. Motion carried.
Benton moved that an exception be made and we review the p~ans
of Gene Graham. Seconded by McEachern. Motion failed to carry.

Off Street parking and sign ordinance:
Sign Ordinance proposed was read and mistakes found. Ordinance
was referred back to committee for restudy and rewriting.
Off Street Parking: Proposed ordinance was read and discussed,
and it was moved by Woodward that a public hearing date for the
Off Street parking Ordinance be set on May 17, 1966, at 8:00 P.M.
in City Council Chambers, City Hall. Seconded by McEachern.
Motion Carried.
Discussion followed regarding letter to lodges on Off Street
Parking.
At ll:~s P.M. motion was made by Woodward that meeting be
adjourned. Seconded by McEachern; Motion Carried.
