REGULAR M~ETING OF CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
February 22, 1966
Present were: Francis ~fuitaker, King Woodward and Tom Benton.
A motion was made by Woodward and seconded by Benton to
approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion Passed.
Tom Benton and Jack Walls were appointed by Chairman vfuit-
aker to a standing committee to Check plans submitted for
building review. This check.o be malie prior to regular
meetings. This committee was also directed to prepare a
check list to facilitate the reviewing of said plans. King
Woodward and Francis Whitaker will be alternate members of
this committee.
Buil ding Review:
The plans for an Apartment building to be built
on the corner of Durant and Center Streets
(Block 70, Lots K,L,M,N, & 0) were shown to the
Commission. These plans were not being officially
submitted and therefore the Commission made
suggestions were made on matters pertaining to
the difinition of a unit as related to the parking
requirements etc. The plans will be submitted
officially to the plan check committee and Com-
mission at a later date.
A motion was madeby Francis 1~itaker seconded by Benton to
again request from the City Council that a map '1e prepared
showing the curb grades and center line grades for the
entire City.~e Commission feels this matt~r to be impor-
tant for the commission plan checking in determining building
heights as well as the drawings of said plans.
A review of the Parkin~ Ordinance was made with areas to
be given more study bemng noted as well as questions for
Jerry Brown.
A letter from the Building Inspector about a sign request
for Amelia's Beauty Shoppe was read. The Board of Adjust-
ment-nad requested a recommendation from the Commission
on the matter. The request was to add an additional sign
of 15 aquare feet on the second floor exterior. lne sign
consisted of cut out letters mounted on a board with the
board mounted on the exterior of a window wall.
A motion was made by Woodward to advise the Board of Adjust-
ment that Amelia's already has two (2) wall signs and one
(1) projecting sign. The Commission feels that the three(3)
existing signs are adequate and additional sign would be
unnecessary. Seconded by l-Jhitaker. Hotion carried.
