JOINT MEETING OF ASPEN CITY AND PITKIN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION
December la, 1964
CITY HALL, ASPEN, COWRADO
Present were City Planning Connnission: Jack Walls, Francis Whitaker, King
Woodward, William McEachern, Richard Lai, Mayor Pabst, Building Inspector
Henry Thruston, County Planning Connnission, Sam Caudill, Edgar Stanton, Frits
Benedict, am Edward Morse, City Administrator John Kerrigan.
Meeting was called to order at 4:30 P.M. by Chairman Jack Walls who introduced
Mr. Krill representing The Ken R. White Company,
Mr. Arthur M. Krill, President of the Ken R. White Compal\Y presented their plan.
Plans of a recent project of Lake Tahoe area were presented, which took a staff
of six planners.
Mr. Hollarrl, chief planner for the company gave a lecture on the philosophy of
planning.
Kerrigan asked if Aspen might llJaed a full time planner. They reClllllllllBnded a
planner on a retainer basis. Walls asked if there would be a planner working
with the Planning Connnissions during planning process. Their answer was yes.
Walls also asked about value of Wiener's -.ork and if it would be of some vallie.
Answer: It would be of some value, but not IIIl1ch. Mr. Hollarrl would be available
for the Aspen project, since he julit completed the report on Lake Tahoe area,
which took about one year to complete the job.
Lai asked about legal am financial implementation. It was explained that
Ken R. White Compal\Y is primari4r planning am engineering, but has a
highway engineering department, computer am publishing department.
Motion was made am. seconded that meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.
