REGULAR MEETING ASPEN CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OCTOBER 13, 1964
COUNCIL CHAMBERS - CITY HALL
Present were: Jack Walls, Chairman, Richard Lai, Bill McEachern; Visitors: Hank
Thurston, Building Inspector and Glenn Paas
1. Correction of minutes of October 7: Last paragraph; motion made by Mr. Whitaker,
not Mr. Wendt.
2. Building Review
a. 2nd Unit Addition to Limelight Lodge, Glenn Pus, owner. Moved by Lai to
recommend approval to Building Inspector. Seconded by McEachern. Passed.
b. Addition to The Lodge, Lots 0, P and Q.
i. East curb cut improperly located.
ii. Rear setback in violation.
iii. Access to head-in parking unworkable.
iv. Driveway adjacent to diagonal parking too narrow.
v. Indicate overhangs.
Moved by Lai that the Commission recommend to the Building Inspector that the
owner be advised that the above items be corrected prior to resubmittal.
Seconded by McEachern. Passed.
c. 40 Unit Motel, Lots A through I, Block 97.
i. Commission notes that Lot open area is very minimal.
ii. Building is in violation in regard to rear setback.
iii. Building has 3 curb cuts on Durant where onJ,y 2 are allowed. Commission
recommends that curb cut to off-street parking be placed on Dean Ave.
iv. Curb-cut widths at main entry .xceed the permitted width.
v. Commission commends the owner for underground off-street parking.
Moved by McEachern that above items be brought to owner's attention by Building
Inspector and that the plans be revised and returned with these points recon-
sidered.
d. A. H. "Swede" Culbertson, 900 Waters Ave. residence meets requirements.
3. Walls reports that John Wendt, Chairman of the Citizen's Advisory Committee on
Density, indicated that the Committee does not want to work on Density and does
not want to be responsible for any decisions regarding Density Control. The Com-
mission asks the Committee to submit in writing a clarification of what the Council-
appointed Committee is willing or not willing to do in regard to Density Studies and
presentation of information, recommendations and conclusions to the Planning and
Zoning Commission.
4. Discussion on Definitions
a. Thurston appointed to study the definition of "Dwelling Unit" by November 10, 1964.
b. Lai appointed to study the definition of "Building Height" by November 10, 1964.
5. Discussion on alley setback tabled until October 27, 1964.
