CITY OF ASPEN PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1964 ASPEN CITY HAIJ.. The meeting was oalled to order at 7:45 P.M. Present were: Jack Walls, Chaiman, Richard Lai, Francis Whitaker, Bill MoEachern, and Mayor Pabst. First item was the design review of William Chambers' Cottonwood Apartments at the East end of Durant Street. It was moved by Mr, Lai, and approved with the exception of the roof overhang. This was seoonded by Mr. Walls. Motion carried. Also discussed was Mr, Chambers Viking Fort at the corner of Original Street and Highway #82. It was moved by Mr. Walls that the matter be held until the September 9th meeting. Recommendations to be made to Building Inspector as follows: A. Assumming 12 apartments, the off-street parking is adequate but without adequate ingress or egress. With 24 potential dwelling units, the off- street parking is inadequate. E. Chimney is beyond the setback line F. Access to public street does not comply with the curb cut ordinance. The access to the proposed parking spaces is impossible. J. Plans show separate dwelling units which do not meet the 300 square foot requirement. It was moved by Mr. Lai that approval be withheld until the above discrepancies have been corrected. Motion carried. Next item the covered walk for the Aspen Lumber Company. Moved by Mr. Whitaker that approval be recollllllended to Council. Motion seconded by Mr. McEachern. Motion carried. The Valley-Hi at Hopkins and Cleveland was then discussed. J. The East two units are below the 300 square foot requirement. It was moved by Lai to recommend approval subject to correction of Item "JII. The bUilding height was discussed of establishing grade level and height of building therefrom. This matter was held for revision regarding sloping sites. Final item discussed was the budget for 1965. Meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
