MAIN STREET, ASPEN, CO Item # 7, City of Aspen's Historic Preservation Land Use Application Requirements: A written description of the proposal and a written explanation of how the proposed development complies with the review criteria and the City of Aspen Historic Preservation Design Guidelines relevant to the development application. American National Bank (ANB) is proposing to change the two exterior sliding doors facing Main Street into storefront/office windows. ANB would also like to replace the revolving entry door with two glass double doors with an ATM located between the two doors. The proposed changes comply with Historic Preservation Guidelines in that, prior to the most recent remodel o f this portion o f the building, the sliding doors were windows and the building did not have a revolving entry door. Therefore, we feel that the proposed changes will, in essence, bring the exterior design back to a previous design. The windows will be vertical single hung, or easement windows. In addition, by returning the sliding doors to windows, it helps the building maintain the former energy conservation ability. The revolving door was also added as an energy conservation mechanism. However, by using two double doors, this should accomplish the same goal.
