The purpose of this site visit was to determine the structural implications if a center mullion were to be removed, as requested, allowing for a new opening. After an observation, it was determined that the existing 2 x 10 floor framing system was running in a direction parallel to the opening, therefore causing no structural concerns. However, we would like to see a new 5 1/8" x9" Glu-Laminated beam or 3-2x 10's with 1/2 plywood, to span the new opening to facilitate the nailing of sheetrock or other covering, and necessary trim work.
