HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.157-00 RESOLUTION NO. 157 (Series of 20(0) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO SETTING THE 2001 MUNICIPAL MILL LEVY AND CERTIFYING SAME TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR PITKIN COUNTY. WHEREAS, the City Manager, designated by Charter to prepare the budget, has prepared And submitted to the Mayor and City Council the Annual Budget for the City of Aspen, Colorado For the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2001, and ending December 31, 2001 and WHEREAS,. the assessed valuation of taXable property for the year 2000 in the City of Aspen returned by the County Assessor of Pitkin County, is the sum of FIVE HLrNDRED NINETY MILLION, SIX HUNDRED AND THREE THOUSAND, AND THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTY ($590,603,330) Dollars; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the proper mill levy upon each dollar of the assessed valuation on all taxable property within the city shall be that determined by the County Assessor sufficient to produce ad valorem tax proceeds in the amount of THREE MILLION, ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND, AND THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY EIGHT ( $3,180,398 ) DOLLARS; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that TWO MILLION EIGHTY SIX THOUSAND, AND FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY FOUR ( $2,086,584 ) DOLLARS of the total THREE MILLION, ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND, AND THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY EIGHT ( $3,180,398 ) DOLLARS is to be specifically restricted for general asset management plan projects; WHEREAS, the citizens of Aspen in November of 2000, authorized the City of Aspen to collect, retain and expend, an estimated $545,000 of the 2000 property tax revenues in excess of the limits of Article X, Section 20, of the Colorado Constitution (Tabor), for the purpose of contributing to the enhancements to the Iselin Park Recreational Complex including the swimming pool, the inclusion of the Aspen Youth Center within the complex, the expansion of common elements for the addition of a privately funded ice rink, and to fund a capital and operating fund for the facilities, the City Council determines that FOUR HUNDRED SIXTY FIVE THOUSAND AND FOUR HUNDRD SEVENTY SEVEN DOLLARS ($465,477) of the total THREE MILLION, ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND, AND THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY EIGHT DOLLARS ($3,180,398) is to be specifically restricted for the improvements outlined above at the Iselin Park Recreation complex; CERTIFICATION OF TAX LEVIES TO: County Commissioners of P i t k in County, Colorado.
