Don Sheeley, Mark Zitelli, Mark Goodman, John Starr and Fred Ayarza were excused. Staff: Kathy Strickland, Chief Deputy Clerk Other staff members: Scott Miller, Scott Chism, Jeff Woods and John Laatsch. John Laatsch, Asset Management explained that the parking garage roof is leaking. We need to remove the garage roof and remove the concrete protection slab and rebuild it backup. The Chamber rents the lower level of the garage and they have indicated that they have 1,000 people coming through weekly. We are undertaking a design project for the Rio Grande plaza near the chamber. We also intend to incorporate a design plan for the upper plaza of the garage. There is a 44 foot easement for the library to expand onto the plaza. A 10,000 square foot addition would be possible for the library to build. The intent is to have a linkage from the mountain down to the Rio Grande Park. Water, sanitation, power, storm water etc. need to be worked on in order to bring the building up to standards. The storm water impacts the south side of the garage. There is approximately 2 million in costs to shut down the garage. In the design the intent is to create a great public space on the plaza. The membrane on the garage needs to be ripped off the roof. It would take 2010 to complete the design process and would take a full construction season to complete it and the garage wouldn't have to close while doing this. Scott Miller said garage designs have improved over the years. We are using new technology and we will have a better drainage systems on top. We intend to add permanent anchors for future use. Kathy said electricity and bathrooms are needed. COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF APRIL 21, 2010 Andrew suggested that the team look at modifying the existing bathrooms in the garage and the Rio Grande room. That would save a substantial amount of money. John said they will have outreach meetings in the future for the neighborhood. Meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m. ~. Kathleen J.
