Ballot Question 2A: Amendment to City
Charter regarding a change of the date of
municipal elections
Shall Article II and Article IV of the City of Aspen
Home Rule Charter be amended as follows?
Section 2.2. Municipal elections is hereby
repealed and reenacted to read as follows.
Section 2.2. Municipal elections.
A general municipal election shall be held on the
first Tuesday of March of 2019, and biennially
thereafter The Mayor elected in March 2019 shal
serve a term from the first regular meeting in June
2019 until the first regular meeting in April 2021.
Thereafter, the tern of the Mayor shall commence
at the first regular meeting of April
Council Members elected in March 2019 shall
serve a term from the first regular meeting in June
2019 until the first regular meeting in April 2023.
Council Members elected in March 2021 shall
serve a tern from the first regular meeting in June
2021 until the first regular meeting in April 2025.
Thereafter, the tern of all Council Members shall
start at the first regular meeting of April.
Any special municipal election may be called by
resolution or ordinance of the Council at least sixt
(60) days in advance of such election. The
resolution or ordinance calling a special municipa
election shall set forth the purpose or purposes of
such election. One or more vote centers for all
municipal elections shall be open from 7:00 a.m.
to 7:00 p.m. on electron day.
Section 2.7. Run-off Elections , shall be amende
by changing the word June to April with no other
changes to the remainder of the section.
Section 4.1. Regular Meetings., shall be amendE
by changing the word June, wherever such word
appears to April with no other changes to the
remainder of the section
