Kids First Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Friday, December 6, 2018 – 11:30 – 1:30 In attendance: Chad Schmit, Stefan Reveal, Matt Zubrod, Rebecca Pascal, Sue Way, Linda Consuegra, Beth Cashden, Shirley Ritter, and Nancy Nichols • Approve minutes from November meeting –Rebecca moved to approve, Linda seconded, MPU • Aspen Family Connection – Shirley shared information about Aspen Family Connection and that Katheryn Sands would like to come to a Kids First Advisory Board meeting to test materials for engaging families with young children in family support meetings. The board members had a couple of questions for Aspen Family Connections - 1. Is there any information about the reasons that Aspen Family Connections is seeing older children and is there information that supports Early Childhood as a way to intervene earlier? 2. What could the Early Childhood Community do to help children earlier? • Little Red Schoolhouse update – Shirley has been working with the Director at Little Red Schoolhouse. The Kids First Advisory Board had asked for bank statements to compare with financial statements, for Shirley to meet with the director and bookkeeper, and for a meeting with the LRSH Board. The director sent the statements and a meeting is set with the bookkeeper. Additionally, Shirley, Sue and Rebecca will plan on meeting with the LRSH board, bookkeeper, and director after the holidays. o Sue moved that the 4th Quarter funding to Little Red Schoolhouse be paid with agreement that Shirley and Kids First Board members will meet with the Little Red Schoolhouse Board, director and bookkeeper. Rebecca seconded, MPU. • Understand capacity planning: Sara Ott, Assistant City Manager, came and talked with the Kids First Advisory Board about the steps that are happening including the building estimates, financial feasibility updates, and structural deficit to the Kids First fund over time. • Review and agree on presentation for joint meeting with Aspen City Council: Kids First Advisory Board reviewed the slide show presentation and shared feedback for additions and understanding. There will be one more Kids First Advisory Board meeting on January 11th, which will be used to review the presentation and to have Kids First Advisory Board member practice their presentation pieces. Shirley will email the presentation and the memo for them to review. This will happen before January 1st, 2019. Next meetings: - Kids First Advisory Board NEW YEAR Friday, January 11 Friday, February 1 Friday, March 1 Friday, April 5 Friday, May 2/3? Capacity expansion questions based on feasibility work 1. How does Kids First feel about funding a different level of quality? 2. Should we be funding wider or deeper?
