HomeMy WebLinkAboutcoa.cclc.min.062911 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF JUNE 29, 2011 Chairperson, Andrew Kole called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners in attendance: Bill Dinsmoor, Siam Castillo, Don Sheeley and Terry Butler. Fred Ayarza was excused. Kathy announced that Jim Pomeroy had to resign because he took a position with the city. Staff: Kathy Strickland, Chief Deputy Clerk Lighting Garrett Mandich, public Bill said we need to have a collaboration with the public and the city. We need to drive for the elements. Bill said CCLC is charged with trying to find opportunities to enhance the city. Terry suggested calling it the "Aspen lighting festival ". Siam said to put the towers in place it costs around $10,000. Andrew said we need to know the mall costs and building costs. Siam said she researched and the projector is $10,000 a week for one projector. The Wheeler would need four projectors. If the towers were in place you could project to other areas. Garrett said the projectors are around $90,000 a piece to buy and the technology is always changing so we shouldn't purchase one because it would be outdated quickly. Andrew asked about renting for a month. Siam said the fee might be $160,000 a month. The mapping would be around $25,000. Andrew said the idea is to pull people into town in December or January. More people will be coming into town during XMAS week and January. Terry said the first 20 days of December are what we need to focus on. Bill said we need to contact people to get on board. They should come to the work session.
