In 1969 Barbara Johnson Hillyard offered .276 acres, lots M,N.O, & P, Block
29(Bleeker street between Fourth and Fifth Streets north side) as a gift to The
City of Aspen subject to the following restrictions: (a) said property shall be set
apart, dedicated, treated and maintained as a public park and garden area for
the benefit of the citizens of the City, which park shall be named Hillyard Park;
(b) said property shall never be used as a public campground or a public athletic
field, playground or as a car parking area. (c) said property shall forever be
controlled by the city and never be disposed of in any way.
