COMMISSION MINUTES OF AUGUST 15 2012 Vice-chair, Don Sheeley called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioner in attendance: Riley Tippet, Terry Butler and Kiki Raj. Absent were Siam s Castillo, Andrew Kole and Bill Dinsmoor. Terry brought up the entrance to Aspen and that plantings need to occur. It is e entrance to our town and it should be a beautiful entrance. The grass needs to be removed. Kathy said this has been brought up before and the CCLC needs to send an e-m to council asking them to look into it. ail Outdoor merchandising: Jim Pomeroy said Morris, Fyrwald and Sotheby's has a table and chairs out in front of their business which is probably illegal. Dan Nelson said Tom Rubel asked them to remove the table and chair and not occurred. This winter it needs to be removed. hmg Jim went over the merchandising rules that are being changed. There is no advertising, no cards no menus, nothing. They can't be selective to who sits there. The seating can't take up much footage. Don said one of his concerns is real estate signs. Jim said they are able to have 3 square feet for a real estate sign. If the have multiple units for sale on a building they can have multiple signs. Y Don said he was involved in a subdivision in Hawaii and everything was evenl dimensioned and it looked much more professional. y 1 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF AUGUST 15 2012 Jim said Adam Frisch has been advocating the Palm Beach rules in which a sign is no larger than one square foot. Don asked that councilman, Adam Frisch come to the next meeting to discuss the dimensions of real estate signs. Lighting update: Don said Bill, Kiki and he went to the work session. It didn't go very well. Kale from Lacrouxstreeb said it would be white lights and a few more features. No one at the work session liked just white lights. The Parks Department will take over the lighting for the holiday. Kale will do the mall lighting for the summer. An outline from Kale will be presented to the Electric Department and Steve Barwick, city manager will sign off on the fee of $5,000 if approved. Dan said he will be in charge of the winter lighting. Dan said the playground tree will have icicles. White lights and colored lights. MOTION: Riley moved to approve the minutes; second by Kiki. All in favor, motion carried.
