HomeMy WebLinkAboutcoa.cclc.min.061913 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF JUNE 19 2013 Chairperson, Don Sheeley called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioner members present: Kiki Rij, Riley Tippet, Bill Dinsmoor and Terry Butler. Siam Castillo, Hana Pevny and Andrew Kole were absent. MOTION: Kiki moved to approve the minutes of June 5th second by Riley. All in favor, motion carried. Public Comment: Steve Wisley said he owns a jewelry store on Hyman. It is important for us to be in front of our store. We would put up a tent and put jewelry out on the street that is $200. Bill explained that the Saturday market is a mature process and if you miss the cut of date you need to apply next year. Riley said the market makes the core prosperous. As a suggestion take a look to see how it works. The board asked Kathy to see if there is any way to accommodate the new business. Comments: Tony Kornasiewicz, Engineering said the parking lot and Benton building will be one large project. They went to council and were given the extensions they requested which is two years. The winter they will go into Hunter Street and the following summer parallel parking on Hunter. Tony said there are no encroachments during on season. unless you go to City Council and request it. Don called Mak from Centaur and congratulated him on the flower boxes and neat setup on the Gap construction. Aspen core should the same. Kiki said she is concerned about all three projects going on at the same time. Bill said we need to get them in and out as fast as possible. Tony said parking is an issue. Three spaces on Hyman will be lost and parking will be a wash for the summer. Comments. 1 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF JUNE 19, 2013 Dan Nelsons said Food and Wine went well. The grass was good until Friday afternoon. We are aerating and seeding as of today. We are also doing an electrical rfp. The study is $24,000. There will be no major work this summer until the fall. The light posts will also be looked at. Wagner and Ruby Park electrical will all be done together. Flowers Don mentioned the flowers for next year and could someone from Parks come to the next meeting. Terry said the entrance to Aspen roundabout is not attractive. Dan said they have a horticulturist and she can come to the next meeting with Stephen Elsperman. Terry said Ellina has red and white decor and up-scaled their outside seating. Piano Don said Steve Barwick is willing to try the piano. Bill said they are $1,200 to fix and they would need to be locked and have a cover on them. Don said administration put an ad in the paper to get a donated piano. We'll just have to wait to see what happens. Riley suggested a memorial plate in memory of to put on the piano. Bill said he asked Randy Ready about a work session on the piano and winter market but hasn't heard back. MOTIO Kiki moved to adjourn; second by Riley. All in favor, motion carried. Kathleen J.
