Galena Aspen, Colorado 81611 RE: Aspen Skiing Corporation Request for Variance at Little Nell for Building Improvement Dear Sheryl: Pursuant to our earlier oral conversation in the County Clerk's office, I would like to formally request that the Board of Adjustment table the pending request for variance to a time certain in the future, preferably in the spring of 1980. The reason for the request is that the Skiing Corporation wishes to do some analyses on site as to traffic flow patterns and ticket sale analyses from its various ticket sales outlets, so as to be better informed in terms of therequested variance. Such studies and analyses will be done during the upcoming winter season. Thank you for your cooperation. Very truly yours, OATES, AUSTIN, McGRATH & JORDAN By - ~.(.-< ...r;?1J& Leonard M. '.1 , February 1, 1979 Street Department City of Aspen Aspen, Colorado 81611 Dear Sirs: Let's face it; it's been a tough winter! You are doing an excellent job, and we don't want to burden you with too may more problems. We do have three potential problems that, if you haven't got them on your list, you might consider. 1. The south end of South Original, just before it meets Ute Avenue: Skiers park there all day and campers at night. The street gets narrower and narrower, and on a good ski day, it might not be wide enough for a fire truck to get through or turn the corner down to Ute Avenue. Could it be mucked out to bring it back to its original width, posted to discourage parking on one side, or towed regularly? 2. The south end of Spring Street just before it meets the very beginning of Ute Avenue (before the mall through the Alps property) : The Ski Corp snCllW cats turn onto the street to get to their garage entrance. 'lhis has built up (or down) a large depression that will soon make the road impas sable to regular vehicles. 3. Same location as number 2 above, adjacent to the gate going into Aspen Mountain: There is a circular depression measuring more than twelve inches deep, caused by a sewer man-hole cover. Numerous cars and trucks have been stuck in this hole. Could Spring Street South be chisled out some day? The reason it's so deep is that it doesn't get plowed often (or at all). If spring ever does come Spring Street will really collapse. Page Two ,"'" , .. , Please look at these problem areas and see what you can do. I assure you that we will cooperate in any way. cc: Aspen Fire Department Aspen Skiing Corporation Aspen Police Department ", 1>. .~. ib"'Jt.rP'\.:'"/ " ,.l'"' /'~'.~"" i y..,/ ;' ':" . ,"",.~ ,,-.,"-./ (,~,...,,) ~~ .,tP '," " , C __1,;'*'> (". i: /",Jt"" C,;,..; GOLDMAN ENTERPRISES P.
