Kids First Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Friday, March 12th, 2021 – 11:30 AM
Attendees: Chad Schmit, Stefan Reveal, Rebecca Paschal, Michaela Idhammar-Ketpura, Cecelia Martin,

• Approved Minutes from February 5, 2021 - Chad moved, Rebecca seconded, MPU
DESIRED OUTCOMES:
• Understand continued programming for childcare recovery
There have been no funding requests since early February from childcare programs. All childcare staff
who wanted the vaccine has received both shots. Kids First has ongoing funding for cleaning supplies.
The Yellow Brick gym is still closed to programs. Playgroup has expressed interest in using the gym.
They will submit a plan for cleaning and use of the bathrooms. ELC and AMT are good with staying
outside and are not interested in using the gym at this time.
• Understand Kids First projects and capacity plan for 2021
The overall enrollment rate for programs is 73%. Kids First is working with Mitzi to create a survey to
families, to determine childcare needs as we continue working on capacity issues. We are still talking to
CMC and Ron has crafted an inter-governmental-agreement (IGA). Once this been approved by City
Council and CMC Board, we can look at construction needs for the space. Ron is looking into state and
local funding as well.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month- Partnering with Human Services, Buddy Program, and
River Bridge to “plant” pinwheels and raise awareness.
May is Month of the Young Child- staff is working on virtual activities
May 1 is the annual deadline for financial aid
