HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.ARC.20221004 Aspen Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes: th October 4, 2022 Call to order: 2:35 pm Sue Smedstad In Attendance: Sue Smedstad, AYC Committee Vice Chair Steven Buettow Committee Member Karin Dillon Committee Member Candace Cross, Committee Member Jay Scharer, Committee Member Erin Hutchings, Recreation Operations Manager and Committee liaison Desiree Whitehead Recreation Manger Absent: Ryan Doremus Committee Member Harlan Pratt Committee Member Public Comments: None Committee Comments: Ice Allocation when a facility comes offline Staff Comments: None Agenda Approval: Approved Meeting Minute Approval: Harlan Motioned Steve Second all were in favor Discussion items: Ice Policy in the Event of facility issues: The recreation team is looking into the policy in place for fields and will adopt similar language to ice rinks in the event of mechanical failures. Concessions Updates: The Request for Proposal (RFP) is open for the second time. The team is working on more robust advertising and cold calls. If the process does not garner any interest for the second posting the team will investigate vending machines options. Aspen Jr. Hockey is taking a onetime opportunity to sell concession for the Fall Face Off tournament. Program, Project, and Facility Updates: Projects for the 2022 year are wrapping up. The fall programming is up and running. Day camp and afterschool programs are full with an extensive waitlist. Trunk or Treat Halloween event will th be held October 30, 2022. Financial: Desiree will present the first reading of the Recreation Budget to Council on October 10, 2022. The Recreation team is still climbing out of covid revenue challenges. The facilities have experienced vast increases in labor, utilities and supplies. Sara Ott has given permission to move the business plan process up ahead of schedule and a RFP is out for that project.
