1) Where is City Hall?
We moved…last year! You can now find us at 427 Rio Grande Place across from the Rio Grande Park.
The City Clerk’s office is located on the 3rd floor.
2) Am I eligible to vote in the Municipal Election?
You may vote if you have resided at an address within the City of Aspen for 22 days preceding the
election (February 13th).
You may register to vote through election day.
Before and including March 1st , register online at Go Vote Colorado
On or after March 2nd through election day, visit the Pitkin County Clerk to register

3) How can I return my mail ballot?
You have the following options to return your
ballot.
• Drop it in the mail
• Drop it in the 24-hour secure Ballot Box
located outside the front of City Hall at 427
Rio Grande Place as shown here
• Drop it in the Ballot Box located at the City
Clerk’s Office on the third floor M-F, 8 am –
5 pm February 14th – March 7th
Allow enough time for the ballot to be received
by the City Clerk by 7PM, March 7, 2023!
Postmarks do not count!
Please note this is a City Election, so you can
NOT drop your ballot at the County Clerk’s office on Main St!

4) What do I do if I don’t receive my ballot in the mail?
Ballots were mailed on Monday, February 13th to active registered voters within the City of Aspen.
If you do not receive your ballot by February 21st, please contact the City Clerk’s office at 970-429-
2686 or elections@aspen.gov.
USPS will not forward ballots!
5) Can I vote early in-person?
Yes! Early voting begins Tuesday, February 21st in City Hall, 3rd Floor between 8am – 5 pm.
Please bring an ID!
6) What if I’m out of town during the election?
Contact the City Clerk’s office at 970-429-2686 or elections@aspen.gov so we can discuss available
options to vote while away from Aspen.
7) How are the winners of each race determined?
Below is a description of how the winner for the Mayor and Council races are determined. This
process is further described in the City Municipal Code Article II.
MAYOR
The candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected mayor, provided that the
candidate receives fifty percent (50%) plus one vote, or more, of the votes cast for the office of
mayor. In the event that no candidate shall have received fifty percent plus one vote, or more, of the
votes cast for the office of mayor, then a run-off election shall be held in accordance with Municipal
Code Article II Section 2.7.
COUNCIL
The two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected for a four year term,
provided that the candidate receives forty-five percent (45%) plus one vote, or more, of the votes
cast for the office ("votes cast for the office" shall be calculated by dividing the sum of all votes cast
for all city council candidates by two (2)). In the event that the number of elected candidates shall be

less than the number of vacancies following the municipal election, the run-off election shall be held
in accordance with Municipal Code Article II Section 2.7.
