When dealing with the mall seating on the Hyman mall the city sprinkling system needs to be taken into account. They have specific hours that it turns on and off. That needs to be coordinated with the mall leases. Kathy said the mall lease is a separate agreement as opposed to the liquor license. The mall lease supersedes the liquor license. The hours of operation are different for the mall lease. Dan said we were almost done with the Christmas decorating. People have ripped them off so we are repairing them. Bill said he is doing the cookies and there will be hot chocolate. Dan said lets punt this year on the children's tree in the mall and then next year go for it and get everyone involved. We need to contact the school early on for the children to make ornaments, etc. Next year we can decide if we want hot cider, hot chocolate etc. 1 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF DECEMBER 3, 2014 12 days of Aspen Julie Hardman, ACRA Kristin Bersani Julie said Kristin will be handling the 12 days of Aspen. Julie said we aren't doing anything different this year. The ACRA is slowly getting away from the special event. The 12 days is a compilation of what is happening in town. Many hotels have contacted us to get on the calendar. A lot of the hotels are having Santa, carolers and different events inside their hotels. We feel the chamber should always put together the calendar. Kristin said there is a skating party on the 201h of December. Santa and hot cider are at the Silver Circle. Cookies and coco at the fire pit will occur on the 23"d of December. Ornaments will be put out at the information booth all day. We purchased 300 and we will have 200 in town on XMAS day. Kathy suggested handing them out XMAS eve also. Kiki said you wouldn't have to announce it on XMAS eve just in case you couldn't get anyone to handle the booth. Kristen said samores and clowns will be at the fire pit. Julie said the hotels etc. are more organized this year and getting their information out for the calendar. Julie said we are balancing with all the events in town. Riley said he sees the calendar more in the role of the ACRA. Commissioner comments Bill said someone needs to go to Vail to see what their lights look like. The city needs to think about what they want out town to look like and can we do better. Maybe increase the XMAS lighting budget. We need to look at the bigger picture. We need to decorate public spaces for the holiday and we need to make the town attractive and inviting for the kids. 2 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF DECEMBER 3, 2014 Kiki said we need to up the decorations. The east coast does better than Aspen. Part of our mall effort is to create a business component and help business strive during the holidays. Maybe we should get involved with the PR people of the hotels. More hotels are having their own PR people. This board facilitates connections between businesses and people.
