HomeMy WebLinkAboutcclc.min.021815 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 18, 2014 Chairperson, Riley Tippet called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners in attendance were Kiki Raj, Bill Dinsmoor, Terry Butler, Don Sheeley and Fred Ayarza. Siam Castillo was absent. Minutes: Fred made the motion to approve the minutes of February 4', second by Bill. All in favor, motion carried. Dan Nelson said the new drainage is helping in Wagner Park. 4t' of July parade Nancy Lesley said the parade is Saturday July 4t''. We have worked with safety, street closures and staging and RFTA's re-route. The parade time is 11:00. The route can't change and to notify businesses was too cumbersome. Richard said the parade route can't change. Don said the ACRA asked if the City could handle the parade. Bill said that is a Saturday Market day. Richard said the route is down Main to Hunter and up to Cooper over to Galena and Hopkins. Kathy said she talked to the agriculture vendors and they are willing to move the market to Friday. Motion: Don made the motion to approve the parade July 4th; second by Riley. All in favor, motion carried. Riley asked Kathy to make sure all the vendors are aware of the 4th of July. Bill asked Nancy if they could take over the Winterskol parade. Nancy said that would be up to the ACRA. Don asked about the bus stop-by the Gondola. 1 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 18, 2014 Randy Ready said local buses stop there and it is a service that is beloved and accepted by Cemetery Lane and Castle Creek etc. Don said they could drop off and face the gondola instead of getting out and crossing the street. Don suggested reversing the route. Letting them out on the square. Randy said they can look at it. Public Comment Cynthia Bye — I was not the greatest vendor and over loaded myself. I am slow in the winter. I signed on two extra markets and overloaded. I was slow in turning in my sales tax. I never meant to be a disturbance to anyone else. My.application came in on time and I will also do my sales tax. Terry asked how many market Cynthia was in. \ Cynthia said she cut out Dillon and Denver and will only do Vail. Bill said there are a lot of people who want to be in the market. The product is good. Cynthia said her following has grown. Terry said to let your sales tax slide is not acceptable and you know what the rules are. You have to be on time and pay your taxes. Cynthia said she did the over achiever thing and developed a bad pattern. Riley said we need to go into an executive session to discuss this. ACRA Eric Klanderud, membership coordinator Riley said the CCLC will be the conduit to the businesses and the voice of the businesses in the core. 2 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 18, 2014 Riley said Eric will be the ex-officia on the board and report back to the ACRA. Riley said we will be better informed between the ACRA and the City. Don said Eric is connected and has.a done a lot of good things for this community. Eric said a year ago they had 638 members and now we have 800 members. That has a lot to do with the economy. This will be a two way channel. Eric said he has worked with Jim Pomeroy with business permits and the codes. Don said we need a list of the businesses in the core. Riley said we need an e-mail list. We need to change the system where you will have to submit extra information on your business license. Riley said we are charged with gathering a lot of public discussion before an item goes to a work session with city council. We can facilitate for different departments that need to get information out to the businesses. Bill suggested reviving the Winterskol parade and incorporating gay ski week in the parade. We need a January Winter carnival. Eric said there was lack of participation in the Winterskol parade. There is so much programming going on that people can't commit. Last year we had six or seven floats only. Eric said maybe we can look at doing something at night time. Kiki suggested doing the parade after soup skol. Bill said there is no entity tasked to vetting these events. Eric said we started the fat tire event and it was real successful. Public Comment 3 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 18, 2014 Motion: Terry made the motion to accept Cynthia By with no zero tolerance. Any infraction the vendor will be gone for good. Motion second by Don. MOTION: Riley motion to adjourn;second by Kiki. All in favor, motion carried. Riley cancelled the March 4t" meeting. The 18" we will facilitate for the Engineering Department regarding Construction Mitigation. MOTION: Riley moved to adjourn; second by Bill. All in favor, motion carried.
