HomeMy WebLinkAboutcclc.min.041415 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF APRIL 14, 2015 Chairperson, Riley Tippet called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners in attendance were Bill Dinsmoor, Terry Butler and Don Sheeley. Fred Ayarz, Kiki Raj and Siam Castillo were absent. Dan Nelson, Parks Kathy Strickland, Chief Deputy Clerk Chris Forman, Parks Supervisor Minutes: Don moved to approve the minutes of April 1, 2015; second by Bill. All in favor, motion carried. Dan.said the turf tarps are keeping the soil warm on Wagner Park. We are not seeing the growth we wanted. We are working at the Rio Grande filling in the dirt spots. We are still working on seasonal hiring. The flower fences are starting to be installed next week. Dan said Chris Forman,Parks Supervisor had a meeting about the round- about and the water and electrical. Outdoor dining Meatball Shack - -Michael Gurtman, owne7r---said there are no changes this year. Bill reminded Michael that the umbrellas need to have a 7 feet clearance. Mike said he bought 8 foot commercial umbrellas last year. MOTION: Bill moved to approve the Meatball Shack; second by Don. All in favor, motion carried. White House Tavern Anderson Clark, manager said they have two benches for their patrons to site on while waiting to get into the restaurant. There are no changes from last year. . MOTION: Don moved to approve White House Tavern, second by Bill. Ryan Sweeney, owner said he has tall bases and his umbrellas do not come over the railing. MOTION: Don moved to approve Rynos, second by Bill. All in favor, motion carried. Little Annies Rohn Fleming, owner said he has no changes. Rohn said his lease will go for one more year. MOTION: Bill moved to approve Little Annie's, second by Terry. All in favor, motion carried. Zoealito Neil Hamilton, bartender presented.. Neil said they are interested in going to V the center of the mall this year. Zocalito's has never done lunch. We would put the tables and chairs up for the public to use when we.are not open. Neil said Mike is the chef and owner. We would not have umbrellas or heaters. Bill said the board needs a layout of the tables to keep on file. Should we . give them 30 or 45 feet. The concern is that the restaurant won't be.out there till dinner. Also Denver needs a drawing before approving. We don't know if electricity or lighting is being proposed in this application. Terry said Michael works hard and this is a good chance for him. MOTION: Don moved to table Zocalito's until May 20th in order to have a complete presentation by Michael Beary. Motion second by Terry. All in favor, motion carried. Mall Leases -Hyman mall Kathy said Finbarr's is not requesting to come out on the mall this summer. They are renovating their space. The board can decide whether the spaces in the center should be 30 feet each or 45 each. Hops, Escobar and Zocalito would be in the center. 2 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF APRIL 14, 2015 Don said he would allow the three restaurants 45 feet. Terry said it might look like a cleaner area ifwe give them 30 feet. Terry said she would rather see 30 feet full all the time. Terry said the center of the mall was messy last year. Terry said she sees what happens there every day. Bill said he thought it was too dense last year. We want what is most attractive for our guests and residence. Riley said the issue last year was the spacing between the restaurants. Chris Foreman said Parks get calls when benches start to disappear. That is a concern if we enlarge the mall leases. Terry said we need to see.aesthetically how it looks.. Riley said„Hops is using the same tables as last year and they have a different look. Chris said we need to make sure all the electrical conduits comply with the . Fire Department NEWS PAPER RACKS Adam Frisch, councilmember said we need to determine who has�ownership of the newspaper racks. Bill said he recycles all the newspapers daily that are left by his restaurant. Adam said all the racks should be the same. They should aesthetically represent Aspen. Kathy said last year she and Trish Aragon marked all the boxes that were a safety hazard and they were taken to the dump. Adam said he will talk to Jim True about standardizing newspaper racks. 3 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF APRIL 14, 2015 Terry asked for more doggie bags in the core. Chris said the Parks Department is establishing a bigger presence in the core. regarding poop. MOTION: Riley moved to adjourn; second by Bill. All in favor, motion carried.
