HomeMy WebLinkAboutcclc.min.052015 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MAY 20, 2015 Chairperson, Riley Rippet called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners in attendance were Kiki Raj, Bill Dinsmoor, Terry Butler, Don Sheeley and Fred Ayarz. Siam Castillo was absent. MOTION: Fred moved to approve the minutes of February 4tn; second by Bill. All in favor, motion carried. Dan Nelson, Parks said the new drainage is helping in Wagner Park. 4" of July Nancy Lesley said the parade is Saturday July 4" We have worked all the safety issues out. There will be street closures and staging. The parade time is 11:00 a.m. The route can't change because notifying businesses was too cumbersome. Richard said the parade route can't change. Don said the ACRA asked if the City could handle the parade. The route is down Main to Hunter and up to Cooper, Galena and Hopkins. MOTION: Don moved to approve the parade for the 4tn of July; second by Riley. All in favor, motion carried. Riley asked Kathy to make sure all the vendors are aware of the 4" of July market change. Bill asked Nancy if they could take over the Winterskol parade. Nancy said that would be up to the ACRA. Don asked about the bus stop in front of the gondola and if it could be moved. Randy said local buses stop there and it is a service'that is beloved and accepted by Cemetery Lane and Castle Creek etc. Don suggested the drop off face the gondola instead of getting out and crossing the street. Cynthia Bye requested to be back in the market. Cynthia said she was not the greatest vendor and over loaded herself. I am slow in the winter. I signed on two extra markets and overloaded: I was slow in turning in my sales tax. I never meant to be a disturbance to anyone else. I have established an e-mail list and will also do my sales tax on time. Terry asked how many market she was in. Cynthia said she cut out Dillon and Denver and only does Vail. Bill said there are a lot of people who want to be in the market. Missing the deadline and not paying taxes is an issue. Lots of people want the spot. Bill did say that the product is good. Cynthia said my following has grown. Cynthia said she did the over achiever thing and developed a bad pattern. Riley said we need to go into an-executive session to discuss this. ACRA Eric Klanderud said he is the membership coordinator. Riley said the CCLC is the conduit to the businesses and the voice of the businesses in the core. Eric will be the ex-officio on the board. Riley said it is our goal to be better informed between the ACRA and the . city. Don said Eric is connected and has a done a lot of good things for this community. Eric said they had 638 members and now we have 800 members. That increase has a lot to do with the economy. This will be a two way channel. 2 COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MAY 20, 2015 Eric said he has worked with Jim Pomeroy with business permits and the codes. Don said we need-a list of the businesses in the core. Riley said we need to gather a lot of public discussion before going to a work session with Bill suggested reviving the Winterskol parade and incorporating gay ski week in the parade. We need an event in January, possibly a winter carnival. Eric said there was lack of participation in the Winterskol parade. There is so much programming going on that people can't commit. Last year we had six or seven floats only. Eric said maybe we can look at doing something at night time. Kiki said do the parade after Soup Skol. Bill said there is no entity tasked to vetting these events. Eric said we started the fat tire event and it was real successful. MOTION: Terry moved to approve Cynthia Bye for the market; second by Don. All in favor, motion carried. Kathy said Chuck and Val applied one day late and should be accepted and we have the room. MOTION: Terry moved to approve Chuck and Val into the market; second by Don. All in favor, motion carried. MOTION: Riley motion to adjourn, second by Kiki. Meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m. 3
