WORK SESSION DATE: 9-19-2023
AGENDA ITEM TITLE: Pitkin County / City of Aspen Joint Meeting
STAFF RESPONSIBLE: Jon Peacock, County Manager
ISSUE STATEMENT:
The Board of Commissioners and City Council meet quarterly to discuss items of mutual
interest. The County is host and will chair this meeting.
BACKGROUND:
Following is the agenda for the joint meeting:
1)Update on the Roaring Fork Valley Wildfire Collaborative
2)Airport Update
3)Closing comments/requests for future discussion items
4)Adjourn
At a previous joint meeting both bodies expressed an interest in collaborating regionally on
wildfire mitigation projects. Out of that discussion regional discussions were convened that
resulted in the creation of the Roaring Fork Valley Wildfire Collaborative. The Roaring Fork
Valley Wildfire Collaborative is a multi-stakeholder collaboration working to protect
communities and natural resources by bolstering wildfire preparedness, mitigation, response, and
recovery. Representatives of the collaborative will be at the meeting to update both bodies on
the collaborative.
County staff will provide an update on the airport, including ongoing work to implement the
community vision, and current conditions and projects at the airport.
