Discussion items: Vendor Applicants for the Concessions: Applicants reviewed concepts with the committee for concessions and vending for the Aspen Recreation Center and potential options for vending and events at the Aspen Ice Garden. The committee reviewed the selection matrix and picked their preferred candidate. United Health/Silver Sneakers: United Health has left the Silver Sneakers program the Aspen Recreation Center has not left the program. United Health’s movement away from Silver Sneakers impacts a good percentage of our Silver Sneaker Users. The Department feels this demographic is essential. Desiree is working with the Attorney’s office to add United’s Active and Renew program and Silver Sneakers. Winter Pass Sale: Aspen Recreation is changing the Black Friday Pass product to a Winter Pass Option. The Winter Pass Option should align with the arrival of the seasonal workers. The pass is $299.00 for five months and doesn’t undervalue any other product. Ice Policy Update: The industry-standard policies do not practice pushing private rentals or other user groups in the event of mechanical failures. The field use language is not apples to apples. More discussion with Harlan may be necessary to land in a comfortable place. Facilities, Projects, and Program Updates: We are wrapping the end-of-the-year projects, hoping to get Saturday open to 8 pm in December. The Department has made progress in hiring this fall. Winter Basketball starts in December and runs through March. Spring registration for camps and afterschool programs opens December 1st.
