ORDINANCE NO. !t
(Series of 1986)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUILDING PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
ESTABLISHED IN SECTION 7-141(e) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF ASPEN, COLORADO, TO INCREASE BUILDING PERMIT FEES.
WHEREAS, the Aspen/Pitkin Regional Building Department is
self-supported by revenues collected by the Department, and
WHEREAS, the primary source of revenue is building permit
fees, and
WHEREAS, the expense of maintaining adequate service levels
has increased, making the current building permit fee schedule
obsolete, and
WHEREAS, building permit fee revenue is affected by
fluctuating economic levels and by local growth control
regulations, and
WHEREAS, the 1985 Edition of the Uniform Building Code has
been published with an increase in building permit fees, which
fairly well represents the rise In the construction cost index
since the Uniform Building Code fee schedule was last revised,
and the City Council deems it to be in the best interests, its
inhabitants and visitors to amend Section 7-141(e) of the
Municipal Code of the City of Aspen as set forth and to
incorporate the fee schedule set forth in the 1985 edition of the
Uniform Building Code, and
WHEREAS, said fee schedule is an established standard which,
with local modification, will contribute adequate revenue for
funding the Aspen/Pitkin Regional Building Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1
That subsection (e) of Section 7-141 of the Municipal Code
of the City of Aspen is hereby repealed and reenacted to read as
follows:
(e) Tables No.3-A, Building Permit Fees is hereby amended
to read as follows:

plus $6.50 for each additional
$1,000.00 or fraction thereof, to
and including $50,000.00.
$414.50 for the first $50,000.00
plus $4.50 for each additional
$1,000.00 or fraction thereof, to
and including $100,000.00.
$639.50 for the first $100,000.00
plus $4.00 for each additional
$1,000.00 or fraction thereof, to
and including $500,000.00.

plus $3.50 for each additional

OTHERS INSPECTIONS FEES
1. Inspections outside of normal business hours. . $30.00 p/hr
(minimum charge - two hours)
2. Reinspection fees assessed under provisions of
Section 305(g). . $30.00 p/hr
3. Inspections for which no fee is specifically
indicated. $30.00 p/hr
(minimum charge - one-half hour)
4. Additional plan review required by changes,
additions or revisions to approved plans. $35.00 p/hr
(minimum charge - one-half hour)
Section 2
If any section, subsection, clause, phrase or portion of
this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional
1n a court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be
deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
Section 3
A public hearing on the ordinance shall be held on the
