HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.council.19990406Special Meeting Aspen City Council April 6, 1999 Mayor Bennett called the meeting to order at 4:20 p.m. with Councilmembers Paulson, Richards, Vickery, and Markalunas present. ORDINANCE #3, SERIES OF 1999 – Iselin/Rotary Park Rezoning Chris Bendon, community development department, reminded Council this matter was continued from the march 22, 1999 meeting. Staff had originally proposed the zoning for the newly annexed Iselin/Rotary park by Pub, public. There were concerns from the neighborhood about Pub, public zoning. The ordinance was amended to zone the area P, Park; the ordinance was renoticed for final adoption. The P, park zone includes all uses there now and also includes uses contemplated in the master plan. Mayor Bennett opened the public hearing. King Woodward, representing the Maroon/Castle Creek Caucus, said the park zone is more appropriate. The neighbors were concerned about affordable housing in the Pub, public zone. The neighbors could support 1 or 2 caretaker units for the new parks plan. Mayor Bennett closed the public hearing. Councilwoman Richards moved to adopt Ordinance 33, Series of 1999, on second reading; seconded by councilman Paulson. Roll call vote; Councilmembers Markalunas, yes; Vickery, yes; Richards, yes; Paulson, yes; Mayor Bennett, yes. Motion carried. Councilman Markalunas moved to continue the meeting to 5:30 p.m.; seconded by Councilwoman Richards. Council went into work session at 4:30 p.m.;
