Commissioner Bill Tuite called the special meeting to order at 4:10
p.m. with Commissioners Child, Crowley, Ethridge and True and
Councilmembers Pendleton, Peters and Mayor Bennett present. The
meeting was held in the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office.
ENDORSEMENT OF THE ASPEN AREA COMMUNITY PLAN
Tuite opened the public hearing.
Cindy Houben, planning department, told the Boards the Aspen Area
Community Plan has been adopted by the city and county P & Z. The
changes from Council and the Commissioners were incorporated into
the final draft. Tim Whitsitt, county attorney, reminded the
Boards that the Planning and Zoning Commissions are given the
authority to do master planning.
Tuite closed the public hearing.
True said a lot of work has gone into this plan. Ethridge said he
is pleased with the effort and the team should be commended.
Ethridge noted the city has a lot of work to implement the plan.
True moved to adopt a resolution to endorse the Aspen Area
Community Plan; seconded by Ethrdige. All in favor, motion
carried.
Mayor Bennett opened the public hearing. There were no comments.
Mayor Bennett closed the public hearing.
Councilwoman Pendleton moved to adopt Resolution #6, Series of
1993, endorsing the Aspen Area Community Plan; seconded by
Councilman Peters. All in favor, motion carried.
Councilman Peters said one of Council's goals is to implement the
Community Plan. Council has talked about meeting with P & Z to
investigates ways to draft a legislation package to implement this.
Crowley moved to go into executive session to discuss pending
litigation; seconded by Ethridge. All in favor, motion carried.
Council and the Commissioners went into executive session at 4:25
p.m.
Crowley moved to come out of executive session; seconded by Tuite.
All in favor, motion carried.
Councilman Peters moved to come out of executive session and to
adjourn at 5:35 p.m; seconded by Councilwoman Pendleton. All in
favor, motion carried.
