HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.boa.19980326ASPEN BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT COM~SSION March 26, 1998 Charles Paterson opened the special meeting at 4:05 p.m. with Board members Howard DeLuca, Ron Erickson, Rick Head and David Schott present. Jim Iglehart arrived at 4:20 p.m. Staffin attendance: David Hoefer, Assistant City Attorney; Sara Thomas, City Zoning Officer; Amy Guthrie, Community Development Historic Preservation; Jackie Lothian, Deputy City Clerk. PUBLIC HEARING: Case #98-02 Mark Pearson, 702 West Main iStreet Charles Paterson opened the public hearing for case #98-02, Mark Pearson requesting a 12 foot rear yard setback variance and a 5 foot 6 inch east side yard setback to allow for construction of a carport and second story addition to the existing noon-conforming structure. David Hoefer stated for the record that the notice was provided. The board voiced concern for the non-conforming lot being over-developed contributing to the hardship. The roof above the carport would be shoveled but not used as a deck. Sara Thomas noted that the carport was subject to review by HPC once the variance was approved from the Board of Adjustment. MOTION: Ron Erickson moved to approve Case #98-02, the request for a 1 foot 2 inch east side yard setback variance and a 12 foot rear yard setback variance at 702 West Main Street to allow for the construction of a two story addition and a carport, finding that the review criteria have been met. The carport may not be converted into a garage at any time now or in the future. Rick Head seconded. Roll call vote: DeLuca, yes; Head, yes; Erickson, yes; Schott, yes; Paterson yes. APPROVED 5-0.
