_MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 16, 200'!
Chairperson, Bill Dinsmoor called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
In attendance were Mark Goodman, Don Shecley, Shea Singer, Stan
Hajenga. Excused were Terry Butler, John Start and Mark Breslin.
Lisa Baker gave an update on the DWELL architect proposal. The DWELL
architect is Kevin Dunnctt. The most popular item is the fire pits. They die
in with the historical interpretation of town. The second item is the kiosk.
The kiosk would be heated and lit at night. It would be located by Gracy's.
Bill's concern is whether the proposals are mall improvements or downtown
improvements.
Lisa said these would be mall improvements. The malls are the center and
right now they are not lively and it is difficult to get around. They need
worked on immediately.
Bill said there is no money to do this and there needs to be a budget. There
are a number of large events that use Wagner Park and have it tented etc.
Wagner Park is begging for a re-think. Possibly changing Wagner Park
from turf to astro.
Don said he agrees that Wagner Park does have large events. He has lived
here for 35 years and a parking garage should be under it. One of the
biggest problems facing Aspen is parking.
Stan asked ifKevin Dunnett was involved with the Walk of Fame on Dean
Street? Lisa replied that he will be involved with that project.
Shea said it is important to get these ideas out on the table and then discuss
where the budget is coming from. We need to continue to go forward. The
new Obermeyer structure will have a lot more retail and a big impact in that
part of town all the way to the art museum. Historically everything has
focused on the mall. All of the town needs to be addressed.
Mark echoed the parking situation in downtown. It is especially critical as
the Snowmass base village goes forward. More parking d '
oesn t mean more
cars necessarily. Transportation into town is the second most critical issue.

Lisa pointed out that a cost sheet has been presented regarding the DWELL
project.
Mark said signage is a very inexpensive way to help people find their way
throughout town. The lighting situation is critical and the mall lighting is
very low. There is no reflection downward. Possibly the use of reflectors
will help.
Colleen Adair, a potential vendor asked CCLC to allow imported items as
part of the Saturday market. Colleen imports from Bali ceremonial
umbrellas. She got a fantastic reaction last year walking around the market.
She sold them at Jazz Aspen last year but it costs $800. for four days. to get
in. She also stated that she noticed that there were some imported goods at
the market last year. She suggested that a few of the booths could be
appropriated for people who do have imports.
Bill said City Council has not changed the rules.
Mark said allowing imports would open up a can or worms. Presently there
is no brokerage allowed in our market.
Stephan Isberian pointed out that Vail is spending money for improvements
with the foresight that people do not shop Aspen because it is too difficult
to get around and there is no parking.
The CCLC went over the Aspen Saturday Market applications.
MOTION.. Bill moved to continue the CCLC meeting until Feb. 18th; second
by Mark. All in favor, motion carried.
February 18th meeting started at 8:30 a.m.
