ORDINANCE No 1
( Series of 1976)
AN ORDINANCE CREATING A NEW DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE CITY
OF ASPEN TO BE KNO~N AS THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN AND ASSIGNING TO SUCH DEPARTMENT THE EN-
FORCEMENT OF STATE AND LOCAL HEALTH REGULATIONS AND SUCH
OTHER DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS AS SHALL BE APPROPRIATE
WHEREAS, the City Manager, pursuant to his authority
under Section 6.3(g) of the Aspen Home Rule Charter, has
recommended to the City Council that the City establish
a a Department of Health to service the City of Aspen,and
~EREAS, Section 6.9 of said Charter further requires
that administration departments be established by ordinance,
?TOW, ~HEREFORE, DE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1
There there be established within the administration
of the City of Aspen a new department to be called the De-
partment of Health to which will be assigned the duty of
enforcement of state and local health regulations within
the City of Aspen and such other functions as from time
to time the City Manager shall designate.
Section 2
If any provision of this ordinance or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such

invalidity shall not affect other provisions or appli-
cations of the ordinance which can be given without the
invalid provisions or applications, and to this end the
provisions or applications of this ordinance are declared
to be severable.
