AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AS AN HISTORIC
STRUCTURE AND SITE THE LOCATION OF THE ROSS
RESIDENCE CONSISTING OF LOTS G, H AND I OF
BLOCK 24, ORIGINAL ASPEN TOWNSITE
WHEREAS, subsequent to receiving affirmative
recommendations from the Aspen Historic Preservation Committee
and Planning and Zoning Commission, the City Council has
determined that the designation of the Ross residence, birth-
place of Harold Ross (founder of the New Yorker Magazine), as
an historic site is appropriate,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1
?hat the following described area and structures
thereon are hereby designated as an H, ~istoric Overlay District,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 9 of Chapter 24 of the
Aspen Municipal Code,
Lots G, H and I of Block 24
Original Aspen ?ownsite
Pitkin County, Colorado
Section 2
If any provision of this ordinance or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such
invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid
provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3
That a public hearing be conducted before the City
Council on ~ /3 , 1976, at 5:00 P.H.

in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Aspen, Colorado,
fifteen days prior to which hearing public notice of the same
shall be published once in a newspaper of general circulation
within the City.
INTRODUCED, READ AND ORDERED published as provided

its regular meeting held at the City of Aspen on the
