ORDINANCE NO. /O
(Series of 1977)
AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AS AN HISTORIC
STRUCTURE AND SITE THE LOCATION OF THE
W. D. BRUNTON RESIDENCE, OTHERWISE KNOWN
AS THE COPPER HORSE, CONSISTING OF THE
EAST HALF OF LOT L AND ALL OF LOT M,
BLOCK 44, ORIGINAL ASPEN TOWNSITE
WHEREAS, subsequent to receiving affirmative
recommendation from the Aspen Historic Preservation Committee,
the City Council has determined that the designation of the
W. D. Brunton Residence, otherwise known as The Copper Horse,
as an historic site is appropriate,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1
That the following described area and structures
thereon are hereby designated as an H, Historic Overlay District,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 9 of Chapter 24 of the
Aspen Municipal Code,
The east half of Lot L and all of Lot M,
Block 44, Original Aspen Townsite
Pitkin County, Colorado
Section 2
If any provision of this ordinance or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such
invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid
provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3
mhat a public hearing be conducted before the City

in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Aspen, Colorado, fifteen
(15) days prior to which hearing notice of the same shall be
published once in a newspaper of general circulation within the
City of Aspen.
INTRODUCED, READ AND ORDERED published as provided
by law by the City Council of the City of Aspen, Colorado, at
its regular meeting held at the City of Aspen on the ~
