ORDINANCE NO. ~
(Series of 1980)
WHEREAS,
marriage, and
WHEREAS,
the Mayor has received a request to solemnize a
Section 14-2-109(1), C.R.S. 1973, as amended, reads
in part that "a marriage may be solemnized ... by a public offi-
cial whose powers include solemnization of marriage ...", and
WHEREAS, Section 3.3 of the Charter of the City of Aspen, in
establishing the powers of the Mayor, reads in part that "the
Mayor shall ... exercise such powers and perform such other duties
as are or may be conferred and imposed upon him by this Charter or
the ordinances of the City ...", and
WHEREAS, Section 31-4-207, C.R.S. 1973, is consistent with
said Charter by reading in part that "the Mayor ... shall exercise
such other powers and perform such other duties as are conferred
and imposed upon him by (State Statutes) or the ordinances of the
City " and
WHEREAS the City Council desires to con£er upon the Mayor,
consistent with said Section 3.3 of
Aspen and Section 31-4-207, C.R.S.

NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT ORDAINED
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1
That the powers of the Mayor of
hereafter shall include the power to

such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining por-
tions thereof.
