ORDINANCE NO. ~ ~__

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A THEATER USE AGREEMENT WITH THE MUSIC
ASSOCIATES OF ASPEN AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, the City owns and operates the reconstruction and
refurbishing of the Wheeler Opera House, in which is located the
Theater for the Performing Arts, and
WHEREAS, the Music Associates of Aspen, a non-profit, com-
munity-based corporation which sponsors and manages the Aspen
Music Festival, Aspen Music School and other related cultural and
educational endeavors which enrich the cultural and educational
life of the City of Aspen has contributed funds and resources to
the renovation of the Wheeler Opera House Theater, and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest
of the City of Aspen and its visitors and inhabitants to enter
into the annexed Theater Use Agreement with the Music Associates
of Aspen, which will, among other terms and conditions, permit the
Music Associates of Aspen to use the Wheeler Opera House Theater
for a consecutive seventy-six (76) day period between June 15 and
September 8 in any given year during the sixteen-year term of the
agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN:
