AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE SELF-
INSURANCE POOL FOR WORKER'S COMPENSATION (CIRSAWC) AND AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR A SELF-INSURANCE
POOL ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ASPEN
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Aspen has reviewed a
contract to cooperate with other municipalities to form a self-
insurance pool to be known as the Colorado Intergovernmental Risk
Sharing Agency for Worker's Compensation (CIRSAWC), a copy of
which contract is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated
herein; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Aspen finds that the
City is lawfully authorized to self-insure and to participate in a
self-insurance pool as set forth in Exhibit "A", and that such
participation would be in the best interests of the City of
Aspen;
NOw, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TRE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1
The City's participation in the self-insurance pool for
worker's compensation, to be known as the Colorado Intergovern-
mental Risk Sharing Agency for Worker's Compensation (CIRSAWC),
pursuant to and in accordance with that contract annexed hereto
and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A", is hereby approved, and
the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said con-
tract on behalf of the City of Aspen.
Section 2
The contract shall take effect on the date set forth in the
contract or on the date the Colorado Commissioner of Insurance
issues a certificate of authority for the self-insurance pool,
whichever date is later.

Section 3
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or
portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such
portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent
provision and such holding shall
remaining portions thereof.
Section 4
A public hearing on the ordinance shall be held on the c~k
day of ~ , 1983, at 5:00 P.M. in
the City Council Chambers, Aspen City Hall, Aspen, Colorado.
